JESC 2008Will we have a board for 2008 jesc?

As reported by esc24.org sourced to TVP representativa Aneta Wrona, Polish Television is planning comeback to Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Polish representative in the show will be winner TVP2 show ''Mini szansa''. Junior Eurovision is also planned to be broadcasted by TVP2. It is not clear yet whether TVP participation has already confirmed by EBU.

It's great that there's an interest, but I don't think it's good if a TV station that only broadcasts in Welsh takes part for the UK , because it is not a fair representation of the country.

Im glad for the new countries joining but sad for Portugal leaving, but I totally agree with them for leaving. You can have a fantastic show, like in 2005 and then you have to sit through 30 minutes of voting and then be dissappointed with the show because the winner didn't deserve to win, like in 2007, it was obvious Armenia had the best song on the night.
I just hope the EBU changes the voting system, they can use Junior Eurovision as a test for the Eurovision, with a jury voting or something.
|
kosm1fent
|
Well, juries are the best choice... Maybe they should choose 2 kid jury members, one older and one younger, dunno...

Hasnt Russia and Romania selected the winners ??
The song from Russia is quite grown up but a bit 'all over the place' I was just wondering when the chorus was going to come... but I liked it.
The Romanian song is quite good as well, the singer is good.

because it aired in non-ratings period in the middle of the afternoon who knows how many people are watching tv then??

Australia, a successful PRIMETIME show on a big channel gets 1 million or over. On SBS or ABC.. less. Eg eurovision got about 400,000 people. That was in primetime with advertising and normal day. JESC is boxing day.. in the afternoon.. so it won't get much.
|
kosm1fent
|
I had thought that Australia had a big population, i've opened my encyclopaedia now and realised that you are just above 18 million. But I still don't understand. A popular show attracts 1 million viewers ONLY?
|

|
The tv ratings are generally only counted from the 5 major cities.
|
kosm1fent
|
Yes, but the ratings should represent the whole country. Australia isn't just these cities!
|
Stardust
|
We have a bad ratings system, it only counts like 1000 people then multiplies by a set #
most of our population is in those cities (bar hobart, darwin not counted)
but it's weird. We never go over 3 mil, even 2 mil isn't often
the olympics will get 2+ though
it's weird
|

Here is the official website of the company which counts the tv-ratings here in Greece:
http://www.agbnielsen.com/wherewe...ish&id=315&country=Greece
According to the site, 1200 households are chosen from the greek mainland and the island of Crete. The company measures their tv-preferences. The way which households are chosen ensures that their tv-ratings represent the whole country.
I'm very sorry, but the top 10 tv-ratings are in greek only, so i'll briefly present to you how many Greeks watched Eurovision:
1st semi: 2.264.367
2nd semi: 1.515.816
Final: 3.228.126

Australian voters pick their Eurovision winner

Shady Lady ... Ukraine were a popular choice as Australia's favourite Eurovision 2008 performance / Getty
When history looks back on Eurovision 2008 how will it be remembered? As the year Dustin the Turkey bit the dust? The year Terry Wogan quit? The year Russia stormed home with its first win? Or the year that Australians could vote online?
* Join the discussion
For superpower Russia it will be an unforgettable night. Iconic hunk Dima Bilan is still basking in glory over his memorable and medaled ballad.
The Russian victory was well deserved; it didn't come without rigorous examination of the impartiality of the European votes
There were over 8 million votes cast in the European televoting polls, and to ensure that there was no fraudulent behaviour the EBU contracted Deutsche Telekom, and the specialised German company Digame, to monitor and control the televoting system. For heightened security, impartial company PricewaterhouseCoopers audited the voting system and the results. (Yes, Eurovision is very serious business!)
Whilst SBS didn't get ASIO to conduct a democratic audit of the online poll, our scrutineers have closed the voting, collated your votes and are proud to crown an Australian Eurovision winner.
Shady Lady performed by the Ukraine was the stand-out Aussie favourite. Ani Lorak rated exceptionally well with our audience, wooing the voters with her sharp choreographed moves, luscious legs and Shakira style shaking hips.
Closely following the Ukraine were The Netherlands, Armenia, Serbia and Malta.
Until next year.

Haha yeah. Well We can't vote in australia so we just vote for fun lol.
Read this:
HOW bizarre. Russia thinks its win in last month's Eurovision song contest is a national triumph.
Even weirder is that Britain is still moaning over its assumed humiliation.
Just this week, Labour MPs even tabled a motion in the House of Commons demanding the BBC quit screening this "farcical event" after singing dustman Andy Abraham, a TV talent quest runner-up, came last, putting Britain once more in the basement with most of the rest of the West Europeans.
But steady, my tone-deaf friends. Eurovision produced the very opposite results to the ones you imagine.
Eurovision, of course, is not the most precise indicator of cultural power.
It may be the world's most popular song contest, but the acts that 100 million viewers switch on to watch each year are almost all of spectacular mediocrity. They're like pre-chewed food - tomorrow's "easy listening" music today.
Yet touchy Russia has still spent the past week and a half swaggering as if it had actually beaten Napoleon again - rather than been conquered by yet another Golden Horde. Its Dima Bilan was the first Russian in the competition's history to win first prize, leading to celebrations so mad that a Moscow News headline blared: "Russia in Ecstasy over Eurovision Win."
President Dmitry Medvedev publicly rang Bilan to congratulate him, while Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a telegram declaring this was "One more important triumph for all of Russia".
Except it wasn't. Bilan won not because he was being Russian, but because he was being Western. He sang in English a number inspired by Australian self-help guru Rhonda Byrne and produced by America's Timbaland which sounded, sadly, much like all that man's stuff.
It was no different with the two runners up: both the Ukrainian and Greek songs were typically Western genre songs sung in English. In fact, 17 of the 25 finalists sang in English, including even the French.
The ceremony, too, hosted in Belgrade, was conducted almost entirely in English.
So if the English had any sense of cultural history they'd take pride, not offence. Here is a tiny island nation whose language now provides the lyrics of international music, with 23 of Eurovision's 53 winning songs having been in English.
If top Western artists competed in Eurovision as top Eastern ones such as Bilan do, there'd be more trophies to take home, too, but when a Russian bear sings in English, you know the West has still won.

Maybe IBA should just do an internal selection, like Armenia did. They already paid the joining fee. Same with Bosnia last year they dropped out after they paid the fee too. Not much point of that ... only realising they cant afford it after they've paid. I wonder how much the fee is to join Junior Eurovision ?
They should let the Western European countries join for free because they are never going to win with all the Eastern European countries anyway.
