Just an update from Russia...the accusations are still going about their song and how it was copied from another composer. Also the song was performed before their selection. It looks like it could be disqualified. I hope the truth comes out, but als feel sorry for the young girl if she's just following what her parents/teachers have told her to do and that her once in a lifetime chance will be taken away from her.
I'll keep you updated with the news.

If the rules have been broken and the EBU get involved then she could be disqualified. I have a friend who works on the JESC team in Russia. He wasn't aware of the problems until I told him so Russian TV won't have looked into it yet. Oh and he prefers Oleg Wink

People are assuming here that the song has broken the rules. I've spoken to people in RTR and EBU and they don't seem to be worried about it. There might be some rules that are not public, which means that the song is ok. This composer might be making it up to try and get money or recognition, things are different in every country. In terms of the song being performed before the national selection seems to be a direct violation of the 2006 rules (http://www.junioreurovision.tv/www/images/stories/files/2006/extractsrulesjesc2006.pdf). Section 1.1.1d
1.1.2b states that the composer must be a singer or musician on the stage.

I'll leave it at that for the moment, but I encourage everyone to read the 2006 rules, they are very interesting!!

As far as I'm aware they have not changed that rule. The only way a child can have a cd before they are enter JESC is if it's a cd from a competition, such as the Romanian Goldenstar competition as the child isn't being professionally represented.
Just because Ukranian TV says the EBU have changed the rules, it might not mean they have. There is always miscommunication in the world of JESC and rumours that end up being false.
I'll ask my friend who works for EBU about this rule and see if I can get the 2007 rules.

I don't know the names of any but I saw the songs on youtube, I thought some were very weird but others had very nice voices and songs. The winner deserved it, he has a really good voice, but I do not think he has a very good shot at winning, we'll just have to see the other entries. Laughing

I agree, the song is kind of mature for Junior Eurovision and if you think about it, no ballad has won JESC all the song have been pretty upbeat and stuff...who knows maybe he'll be a surprise
