| Quote: | TVE withdraws from Junior Eurovision!
Spanish national broadcaster TVE has sensationally announced that it is withdrawing from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, making it the last of the 'Big 4' countries to cease participating in the show. In a press release that is now all over the Spanish media, TVE's Director Jorgi Pons explained why the decision has been taking to withdraw: ''(Junior Eurovision) produces stereotypes that we don't share''. ''It spreads dangerous 'rays' '', he continued, ''that form stereotypes. TVE is now looking for other formats that spread different values''. The broadcaster has had good results in the contest, and said that the withdrawal was definitely nothing to do with these, but because of the format and ideals of the show.
TVE said they they'll be making their feelings known to the EBU in the search for other formats.
For the moment, they broadcaster also said that they won't be drawn into a debate about the Eurovision Song Contest itself, but finished by saying that they'll ''also be reflecting'' over their pariticpation in this event too.

On the eurovision.tv website it says only 19 countries applied, so the current participants + plus Bosnia equals 19, so dont know if there are anymore countries on the waiting list.

Oh OK thanks for that I just thought since it said here that Georgia was "first in the waiting list" there might be more.
But why are they quitting now? Did something change recently?

I hope another country produces an excellent song, Spain is always the one I most looked forward too in JESC. How many Western European countries left now ? 5 including Greece. I do like Eastern European songs but it's nice to have variety.

About Spain I have nothing to say... TVE has broken my only illussion of the shit of TV that Spain creates.
They give STUPID reasons to decline of JESC, so... I hate them
|
Esperanza

I agree quite a lot with those reasons.
Kids are supposed to study and enjoy childhood, not being superstars.
I think that TVE made a good decision.

all i can say is........ this sucks! big time!

kids are not meant to study..they should play and overall just enjoy life..
and learn the things they want to learn..not be forced too
spain will be back..
I hope

You live in Spain and you know that children of these ages only here reggaeton and these sexist lyrics. Spain Gobvernment must eliminate of TV these "music" videos and all TV shows like GH, Dolce Vita and all these shit that really hurt children minds... JESC and Eurojunior is the less bad option I think
|
Yonah
|
are you serious? are they really caring what influences they are sending to the kids? Great!!
I hope they realise how big of an impact it has and they help..
but jesc really isn't bad..that's a stupid decision of them..except for all the money wasted on the contest instead of being used into more important matters I can't find a way to agree with them..

You rules!! Great explanation!! I am totally agree with you. But unfortunately this isn't the reason TVE don't have money because they spent all in phone calls not professional, only personal calls. I know people who works there and it's the truth

we both know what kind of Government we have and I think that it will be long till it happens ¬¬ meanwhile, I still agree to what TVE says.

They have quit but say they might be coming back next year

why?

Why should they withdraw if they are planning to come back the next year? It is just so stupid with the reasons they gave for quiting.

I wish spain would come back, Specially Maria Isabel was their best entry!!

Sadly, Spain doesn't seem willing to come back to JESC...

That is a disappointment. They did so well

Yes, they did well. But money rule this world...
|
SASDG

Didnt they say they were willing to come back if they changed the rules ? (Political voting ...) They have been the best country in Junior Eurovision.
I just hope the jury voting works. If they use 50% public vote and 50% jury vote then the political voting will be pretty clear.
|
kosm1fent
|
I don't trust juries, especially the amateur ones...
|
Stardust

Neither.
They will go for the boring songs.
Spain said JESC is not so appropriate, not good for kids. Pfft.

| Stardust wrote: | | Spain said JESC is not so appropriate, not good for kids. Pfft. | Yeah, but they forgot something. The entry which gave Spain her only victory in the contest was not so suitable for kids...
If they were sensitive about kids stuff, they should say right after their victory...
"Thanks Europe, but we cannot accept this victory, because our song is not so appropriate for kids and we don't want JESC to be conquered by these songs. Goodnight." .........but they didn't.
My opinion is that after Marisabel's victory, JESC started to decay. I don't say it's her fault (i'm a fan of her), but now we see EVERYTHING else apart from children performances in JESC every year.
|
Sara

Why do you think Maria Isabel's performance wasn't kid like? I'm just wondering

Perfect example is Russia's entry this year, it is similar to Dima Bilan's that has just won Eurovision. But Belarus in 2005 was very appropriate for kids !!!! That is when it started to decay. After watching such a great show of 2005 and then seeing Belarus win was just such a disappointment !!!! Spoiled the whole show (for me anyway)

As i said before, i don't have any problem neither with Marisabel nor Kseniya. I personally think that, if Kseniya's song was sung by another singer, it would be a clear and deserved winner (at least for me)

| Sara wrote: | Why do you think Maria Isabel's performance wasn't kid like? I'm just wondering | OK, the performance is not a problem. The song itself is talking about fame, make-ups, fashion, boys... I don't think this is a good example for the younger ones...

No one can understand it though
Well, I think that kseniya was ok.... just schreechy .. I didn't agree with 05 result.. Malta.. UK... Montengro....... some good songs.. too low.

Yes, I prefered Malin as a winner, she was so sweet...
