The three scandinavian countries, Sweden, Norway and Denmark officially withdrew from Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006. The official reason given is that there is too much pressure to the children participating in the contest. On the other hand they found out these countries, that there will be no such pressure if they organize a Nordic Junior final in Stockholm. It seems that Sweden is so eager to host a Eurovision a-like event. We wish them all the very best of luck. The news were confirmed moments ago through NRK.

OMG i CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
SO unfair on the norway finalists - pressumably there will be a smaller eurovision-like event for those countries and a couple more. I think the winner from nordic final goes through to that instead.

yeh really awful news, i can't believe it, to much pressure? come on it's almost the same pressure when there are 4 countries:s

i fear that there won't be a jesc 2006 Sad

Let least the Nordic Finalists don't get pulled out, and get to perform in a TINY scandanavian jesc-like contest in November.....

But STILL :'( worst news EVER.

And even wrose...nearly everyone is glad!! They are hoping this will be the end of jesc. Loads of people at esctoday are excited about it *growl*

UPDATE:

A serious crisis threatens Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Moments ago source from a country informed us that one more country will withdraw from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It seems that the contest is threatened to come to an end if one more country pull out and if this Nordic copy take place. We have asked EBU for a reaction which hopefully will arrive soon (somewhere).

yeh i think in my mind i knew something like this was going to happen, but i had hope too, i still have a bit of hope, you never know, december is still far away...

UPDATE:

This is not confirmed yet but sources says that United Kingdom will follow the Scandinavians countries and also withdraw from Junior Eurovision Song Contest. There seems to be a very low interest in UK for the junior version av the youngster´s version av Eurovision Song Contest and indeed BBC have the same opinion as SVT, DR and NRK since they have lend over the rights of broadcasting the Junior ESC to commercial ITV. I KNEW IT *grrrrrowl* UK didn't want to participate last year, and only did so because of the contract (supposedly) - I kenew it would be Uk next.

ALthough not confirmed I think it will be Uk.

How SHAMEFUL!! IF Uk leaves that measn proabbyl end of jesc according to the last update..meaning Uk will be the jesf murderer <_<

There are rumours about Greece and Cyprus pulling out have not yet been confirmed.
